For those who aren't avid readers of ILM, the past few months saw yet another poll take place for music of the 70s. As discussed in a previous post, this led to me listening to and buying up quite a bit of music from that decade. So for me, on a musical level, the past few months have been pretty great.
The way these polls work is that people nominate 7 things, being a combination of singles and albums from the 70s (as explained on the nominations thread). Then people can vote for 70 things (also a combination of singles and albums) based on the nominations. This definitely leads to some great things being completely ignored, however for the most part, the final lists are quite impressive, so there's no use complaining.
My ballot of albums and singles is as follows:

In the May 13, 2005 issue of Entertainment Weekly, The Sex Pistols' Steve Jones gives his list of 12 CDs that everyone MUST hear. It's a fairly varied list, with titled by Cliff Richard, Ken Boothe, Supergrass, the Faces and, to no surprise, the Sex Pistols. He's not really joking around with his reviews of any of the bands, which is why it's surprsing to see his comments under the Wedding Present's latest, Take Fountain, where he says, "This is a somewhat new band that sounds like they can actually play their instruments instead of coping out and using Pro Tools like everybody else."
Um, way to sound hip and cool there Jones by talking about this new band, though they've been around since 1985, and this album is in fact a reunion album.
